Zaporizhzhia State Medical University is a modern, multidisciplinary higher education institution

the fourth level of accreditation with the right of autonomous management.

Its history dates back to the Higher Women’s Courses organized in Odessa in 1903.

In 1959 the school was transferred from Odessa to Zaporizhia and renamed the Zaporizhia Pharmaceutical Institute, and in 1968 – the Zaporizhia Medical Institute.

In 1994, the media received the status of the State Medical University of the IV level of accreditation, the main tasks of which are to provide higher education services at the level of specialist, bachelor and master, as well as postgraduate training in internships, master’s programs, postgraduate studies, doctoral studies and pharmacists.

Pursuant to the letter of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 1 / 9-309 dated 20.05.2015, we would like to inform you that Zaporizhzhya State Medical University provides educational services to applicants for higher education, strictly adhering to the current legislation.

Stages of training and their characteristics

Studying at ZSMU includes pre-university, university and postgraduate stages.

Pre-university stage: at preparatory courses in profile disciplines entrants are prepared for admission to ZSMU, and also foreign students are prepared for further study in Ukrainian universities. Since 2009, the University has a medical college.

Domestic and foreign students at ZSMU have the opportunity to receive higher education in the following specialties:

•  “Medical business”,
•  “Pediatrics”,
•  “Pharmacy”,
•  “Technology of perfumes and cosmetics”,
•  “Dentistry” (qualification – specialist and master),
•  “Technologies of medical diagnostics and treatment” (bachelor, master),
•  “Physical rehabilitation. Occupational therapy” (bachelor).

The postgraduate stage includes training in:

• internship, master’s and postgraduate studies – in 28 specialties,
• doctoral studies – in 12 specialties,
• specialization, thematic improvement courses and pre-certification cycles for doctors, as well as distance and full-time advanced training courses for teachers, doctors, pharmacists, pharmacists and cosmetologists (a total of 27 courses).

As of September 1, 2021, 8,124 students are studying at the university. In total, the contingent of people studying at ZSMU (students, masters, interns, clinical residents, graduate students, cadets) is 11,497 people. Among them are more than 3,200 foreign citizens from 42 countries.

 

Campus, leisure, sports

The campus is located on the picturesque banks of the Dnieper in a park area. There are 5 educational buildings, 5 dormitories, a sports complex, a scientific and art library, a beauty studio, an amateur art club, a student dispensary, several canteens and cafes, and an Internet cafe.

Next to the educational buildings and student dormitories there is a stadium with athletics sectors, a football field, sports grounds for handball, mini-football, volleyball, basketball, sports halls, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a shooting range, sports shooting, checkers a fitness club.
